John W. Giblin, Jr. ’68 has joined Farrell Fritz as counsel, concentrating in trusts and estates law. He is arriving from the Law Offices of John W. Giblin, Jr., P.C., a Melville-based, Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated firm concentrated in estate planning, business succession planning, estate management and estate litigation.

Richard Seldin ’72 has recently published the novel, Below the Line in Beijing. It is currently available in paperback and e-book form from the publisher at www.IPBooks.net and Amazon.com.

Jeffrey H. Lynford ’75 has been selected to serve on Highnote Foundry’s Executive Leadership Council that will support Highnote Foundry in building new companies in transforming industries, such as healthcare, wealth management, media/entertainment, and education.

Christopher P. Sullivan ’75 has been elected treasurer of the Massachusetts Bar Association for its 2015-16 year. He is currently a partner at Robins Kaplan LLP in Boston, where he concentrates in civil jury trials in complex litigation, including financial and securities cases and intellectual property matters.

Michael Kelly ’78 has joined Arent Fox as counsel for the firm’s newly formed alcoholic beverage industry group. Mr. Kelly joins Arent Fox after serving more than two decades as general counsel of two leading wine and spirits companies: Moet Hennessy USA, Inc. and Schieffelin & Somerset.

Richard D. Prentice ’79 has been recognized in the 2015 Chambers USA Directory in his area of practice in Real Estate Law. Chambers USA is a prestigious directory of the nation’s top law firms and leading business lawyers. Mr. Prentice is currently a shareholder at Bernstein Shur.

Joseph J. Ceccarelli ’80 has joined Wilson Elser as a partner in the firm’s New York City office. Mr. Ceccarelli was previously a founding and managing partner of Ceccarelli Weprin PLLC, specializing in business and commercial real estate litigation and transactional work.

Steven M. Friedman ’80 has been named the Chief Financial Officer of Walton Development & Management, Inc. (WDM). He joins Walton after serving as a partner in the real estate practice of a global accounting and advisory firm, and is charged with overseeing corporate finance for WDM’s U.S. regions.

William M. O’Connor ’80 has been recognized as a “Recommended Attorney” by The Legal 500 US 2015 directory in his area of expertise in Real Estate. Mr. O’Connor is currently a partner at Thompson & Knight LLP.

Honorable Peter B. Skelos ’80 has joined Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo & Terrana, LLP’s Litigation Practice Group as Partner. Judge Skelos recently retired from the New York State judiciary after 20+ years of distinguished service.  For the past 11 years, Judge Skelos served as an Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department.

Daniel J. Hayes ’81 has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2016 edition of The Best Lawyers in America list. Mr. Hayes specializes in healthcare law and is currently a partner at Jackson Walker L.L.P.

Bernard P. Kennedy ’82 has been honored for his contributions to Providence House, a not-for-profit organization that helps transition women who are homeless and recently released from prison back into society, at its People of Hope Celebration last month in New York City. Mr. Kennedy is currently the Co-Managing Member (Partner) of the Garden City office of Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC.

Seth J. Finkel ’84 has been named to Barron’s prestigious “America’s Top 100 U.S. Financial Advisors” and “Top 1200 Financial Advisors.” Mr. Finkel placed #21 in the country and #8 in New York. He is currently a Managing Director in Wealth Management at Neuberger Berman.

Nicholas J. Chivily ’85 has joined Dorf & Nelson LLP as the firm’s newest partner, working in the Westchester/Rye Headquarter Office. Mr. Chivily joins the Dorf & Nelson team after serving as partner and head of the New York office of Mayo Crowe LLC, a Hartford-based firm, for 10 years.

Laura A. Coruzzi ’85 has been appointed to the board of directors of Taaneh, Inc. As a board member, Dr. Coruzzi will help protect Taaneh’s intellectual property and provide counsel and corporate guidance.

Nicholas Chrysanthem ’88 has joined Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin as a shareholder in the firm’s Professional Liability Department in their New York City Office. Previously, he was a member in the Manhattan office of McManus & Richter, P.C.

Philip L. Hirschhorn ’88 has been named head of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney’s New York office. Mr. Hirschhorn is a shareholder of the firm and specializes in intellectual property litigation, with more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property.

Amelia Klein ’89 has been selected by her peers for inclusion in the 2016 edition of The Best Lawyers in America list. Ms. Klein is currently practicing at Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC, focusing her practice on employee benefits and executive compensation.

Joseph A. Mascia ’91 has joined Cozen O’Connor as a member in its New York Real Estate Group. Mr. Mascia focuses his practice in all areas of real estate law, with significant experience in the commercial real estate arena. He joins Cozen O’Connor from Duane Morris, where he served as special counsel.

David S. Broderick ’92 has joined DLA Piper as a partner in the firm’s finance practice. He was previously practicing at Latham & Watkins, where he was a partner of the firm.

Daniel C. Marotta ’92 has been named President of the Richmond County Bar Association. He is currently a partner at Gabor & Marotta, which specializes in matters such as intellectual property, real estate and estate planning.

William Haddad ’94 has joined Cooley LLP as a partner in the firm’s corporate department. Mr. Haddad counsels publicly traded companies, investment banks, financial institutions and private equity sponsors and venture capital firms, while advising on a full range of corporate transactions.

Benjamin Barros ’96 has been appointed Dean of the University Of Toledo College Of Law in Ohio. Most recently, Mr. Barros served as associate dean of academic affairs at Widener University’s School of Law in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Scott Welkis ’96 has joined Akin Gump as a partner in its corporate practice. He focuses on debt financing and special situation opportunities and was previously practicing at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan.

Palmina Fava ’97 has been named for the third-year in a row to Ethisphere magazine’s 2015 Attorneys Who Matter, this year as a Specialist in Private Practice in Anti-Corruption and Compliance. Ethisphere’s selection considers “expertise, peer and client endorsements, participation in high-profile cases, and overall success.”

Yeshim E. O’Donnell ’97 has joined Farrell Fritz as counsel, concentrating in trusts and estates law. He is arriving from the Law Offices of John W. Giblin, Jr., P.C., a Melville-based, Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated firm concentrated in estate planning, business succession planning, estate management and estate litigation.

Daniel L. Brown ’98 was selected by the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service as a recipient of one of the 2015 ABA Pro Bono Publico Awards for demonstrating outstanding commitment to volunteer legal services for the poor and disadvantaged. Mr. Brown is currently a partner at Sheppard Mullin in the firm’s Business Trial Practice Group.

Gwenn Kalow ’98 has joined Goldman Sachs as Vice President in Global Compliance, where she will be focusing on Regulatory Audits and Inquiries.

Gabriel Monzon-Cortarelli ’99 has joined Seyfarth Shaw LLP as a partner in the firm’s corporate department. He joins from Greenberg Traurig LLP, where he was a shareholder in the corporate and securities practice.

Elizabeth E. Malang ’00 has been elected to partner at Ryan & Conlon LLP, where she handles all phases of the firm’s personal injury and insurance defense cases.

Gavin N. L. White ’01 has been elected name partner of his firm, which will now be known as Martinez, White & Viniegra. He focuses his practice on commercial disputes and insurance litigation.

Neysa Alsina ’02 has been appointed as counsel of the New York City Bar Association. Ms. Alsina is also a regional president of the Hispanic National Bar Association and was previously the in-house counsel for Municipal Credit Union.

Robert Maier ’02 has been named one of the New York Law Journal’s 2015 “Rising Stars.” He is currently an intellectual property partner at Baker Botts with a focus on patents in high-tech industries.

Damon W. Suden ’02 has been elected to partner at Kelley Drye & Warren LLP in the firm’s litigation practice. He focuses his practice on commercial and complex civil litigation, including class actions, in both state and federal courts, including contract disputes, corporate fraud and other tort claims, unfair competition, theft of trade secrets, bankruptcy litigation, false advertising litigation, and employment related matters.

Mauricio España ’03 has been named one of the New York Law Journal’s 2015 “Rising Stars.” He became one of Dechert’s youngest partners two years ago and has won a series of securities, bankruptcy-related and complex commercial litigation cases.

Richard J. Guidice, Jr. ’03 has joined Kleinberg, Kaplan, Wolff & Cohen, P.C. as a partner in the hedge fund practice. He was previously a partner at K&L Gates.

Bonnie Lynn Chmil ’04 has been elected to partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP in the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution practice. She has represented clients in a wide range of matters involving commercial contracts, lender liability, trusts and estates, securities, antitrust, regulatory inquiries, intellectual property, financial services, employment, bankruptcy adversary claims and statutory and common law claims.

Mihir A. Desai ’05 has joined the Office of the New York State Attorney General as the Assistant Attorney General in the Environmental Protection Bureau.

Seanna R. Brown ’06 has been named one of the New York Law Journal’s 2015 “Rising Stars.” She is currently a partner at Baker & Hostetler, specializing in high-profile litigation and bankruptcy proceedings, specifically in the liquidation of brokerage firms and bankruptcy appeals.

Seth Fier ’06 has been named one of the New York Law Journal’s 2015 “Rising Stars.” He is currently a litigation associate at Proskauer Rose and has compiled a record of financial expertise, outstanding casework and pro bono leadership at Proskauer Rose.

Nicholas E. Mitchell ’07 has been selected as a fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation, an award bestowed upon less than 5% of Colorado Bar Association members related to their prominence, reputation and good standing in Colorado’s legal community. Mr. Mitchell is currently the Independent Monitor of the Denver Police and Denver Sheriff Departments.

Jeffrey H. Newhouse ’07 has joined Hirschler Fleischer as a partner. Mr. Newhouse advises clients on complex commercial litigation matters, including class actions and high-exposure individual actions.

Sean F. Reid ’07 has been promoted to partner at Fox Rothschild LLP in the firm’s Princeton office. Mr. Reid represents public and private entities, including issuers, investors and underwriters, in a variety of debt and equity securities offerings such as IPOs, secondary offerings, PIPEs and private placements.

Christine Ryan ’09 has joined HunterMaclean as an associate in the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. Before joining HunterMaclean, Ms. Ryan worked with the Real Estate Capital Markets Practice Group at Goodwin Procter LLP in New York.

Gerald Wagschal ’09 has been promoted to Coordinating Investigative Producer, Specialized Units of ABC NEWS in New York City. He had been working as a producer there for 9 years prior to the promotion and his past experience also includes working as producer in Canada for CBC’s The Fifth Estate and CTV’s W-Five.

Joseph T. Kohn ’11 has joined Quarles & Brady LLP as an Associate in its Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group at the firm’s Naples office. Mr. Kohn has extensive litigation experience in a wide range of matters, including commercial, product liability, and antitrust cases.

Joseph F. Tartakovsky ’11 has joined the Nevada Attorney General’s Office as the Deputy Solicitor General. Mr. Tartakovsky was previously an Associate Attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.

Jeremy M. Corapi ’12 has been appointed Secretary of the New York State Bar Association’s Commercial & Federal Litigation Section. Mr. Corapi currently concentrates in commercial litigation and labor and employment law at Farrell Fritz, P.C.

Josh Rosenthal ’12 and his wife welcomed a baby on July 16th. The baby’s name is Owen. Mr. Rosenthal is currently an associate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP.
