OPINION: Defending James Comey Redefines America’s Law on Leaks


Jed Shugerman was quoted in The Hill about ex-FBI Chief James Comey’s congressional testimony.

Former Robert Mueller aide and CNN legal analyst Michael Zeldin insisted on air that Comey was memorializing the meetings, saying, “This is not classified. There’s no leak. It’s not definitionally a leak. Leak is something completely different.” Likewise, Fordham law school professor Jed Shugerman insisted, “This should not be called a leak. The word ‘leak’ refers to revealing secret and classified information.”
