Eugene Souther ’59 was honored by the New York County Lawyers Association with its Boris Kostelanetz Medal at its 103rd Dinner on December 11, 2017.

Richard Fiore ’67 has retired from The Northern Trust Company. He served as vice president.

David Zoffer ’72 has been appointed Senior Vice President and Group General Counsel of James River Group, Inc. and of James River Group Holdings, Ltd.

William M. Savino ’74 has received a Leadership in Law award from Long Island Business News. The awards recognize individuals who demonstrate dedication, hard work, skill, tenacity and excellence, along with leadership qualities, in both the legal profession and in the community. Savino currently works at Rivkin Radler.

The Honorable Jerrold Nadler ’77 became the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee.

John Killea ’80 has been appointed president, chief legal officer, and chief compliance officer at Stewart Information Services.

Andrew Calamari ’82 will join Finn Dixon & Herling LLP in their government and internal investigations, litigation and investment advisors/broker-dealers practice.

The Honorable Barbara J. Gaden ’83 retired in June 2017 after more than 16 years on the bench of the Richmond, Virginia, General District Court. Judge Gaden will continue to sit as a substitute judge in area courts.

Laurie Berke-Weiss ’83 has been honored with the Frank H.T. Rhodes Exemplary Alumni Service Award for Cornell University. The award recognizes alumni who have demonstrated extraordinary service to Cornell through long-term volunteer activity. She has also been selected to the 2017 Super Lawyers list and to the Top 50 Women: NY Metro list.

Chuck Katz ’84 has joined Barnes & Thornburg LLP as partner in the government services and finance department.

Daniel Morrison ’84 has joined the board of directors for Xavier Society for the Blind.

Lisa Wallach Mandelblatt ’84 is campaigning for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 7th congressional district.

Judith Archer ’85 has been chosen for best women lawyers in New York City by Crain’s New York. She is a partner at Norton Rose Fulbright.

Madeline Singas 91 spoke to the Bayview Civic Association in her hometown of Manhasset to spread awareness about the drug epidemic on Long Island and the strides that she has made against this during her time as Nassau County district attorney.

Joseph DeMarco ’94 will step down from his position as Bayonne City business administrator in New Jersey to manage Mayor James Davis’s re-election campaign.

Carí Lewis ’94 has relocated to Los Angeles, California, where she received her LL.M. in taxation from Loyola Law School. Lewis is a senior associate at Terri Hilliard PC, where she practices estate planning, elder law, special needs law, and nonprofit board governance and compliance work.

Sylvia Shweder ’05 was named deputy chief of the general crimes section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. Shweder previously worked as the acting deputy chief of the International Narcotics & Money Laundering section and has been an assistant U.S. attorney in the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office since 2008.
