Professor Bruce Green has been named the recipient of the ABA’s Michael Franck Professional Responsibility Award, which honors individuals who have made an impact in the areas of legal ethics, disciplinary enforcement, and lawyer professionalism. Green will receive the award on May 31 during the 44th National Conference on Professional Responsibility.

“Professor Green’s contributions to the field of legal ethics have been exemplary throughout his career,” said Dean Matthew Diller. “He is a leader in the field with the deep respect of his peers.”

Green serves as the Louis Stein Chair of Law and director of the Louis Stein Center for Law and Ethics at Fordham Law. His research and teaching areas focus on legal ethics and professional responsibility, criminal procedure, public interest/service, prosecutors and public defenders, and legal education. He has served on numerous ABA committees, commissions and task forces on ethics and professional responsibility, professionalism, multi-jurisdictional practice, American Jury Project, bioethics and the law, death penalty representation, criminal justice standards, attorney-client privilege, law schools and the profession, and those of ABA entities including the Center for Professional Responsibility, Litigation Section, Individual Rights and Responsibilities Section, and the Criminal Justice Section where he served as chair in 2010-2011.

“Bruce Green has been one of the most significant voices in legal ethics in the last 30 years,” said Ellen Yaroshefsky of Cardozo School of Law.

His scholarly accomplishments include articles in law reviews, legal periodicals, books, and other legal writings. As a sought-after speaker, he has participated in hundreds of programs both nationally and internationally.

The professional responsibility award is named in honor of Michael Franck, late director of the State Bar of Michigan and long-time champion of improvements in lawyer regulation in the public interest.
