Fordham Law Professor Deborah Denno was interviewed on FOX News before Stephen Hayes was sentenced to death for his role in the Petit family killings.
Denno said, “This is not a mathematical procedure. It’s a subjective and emotional deliberation on the part of the jury. So they’re weighing them, but how that weighs is not in terms of quantity. It’s in terms of how they view a balancing process and what they think is the fair result.”
