Fordham Law’s Master’s Degrees in Compliance to Meet High Demand for Trained Professionals

Fordham Law School is leading the surge in compliance education by offering a second master’s degree in Corporate Compliance—one of the fastest-growing areas in legal and business employment. The new Master of Studies in Law (M.S.L.) does not require a background in law. It follows the Master of Laws (LL.M.), which the Law School launched last year for lawyers who want to specialize in the compliance field.

“Fordham Law has reinvented legal education where business and law intersect—in the field of compliance,” said Dean Matthew Diller. “Industries around the globe have ramped up their compliance initiatives in response to the dynamic regulatory environment and heightened regulatory expectations. Fordham Law will continue to pioneer educational opportunities to help students advance their careers in this area.”

With an existing deep curriculum that includes executive education, the addition of two new master’s degrees continues to build on Fordham Law’s robust, comprehensive Corporate Compliance program.

Fordham Law hired Gerald Manwah, who previously served as a Managing Director in Compliance and Financial Crime at Barclays, to direct its compliance programs.

“In today’s environment, compliance is hot,” said Manwah. “Organizations worldwide continue to enhance and implement effective, end-to-end compliance programs. We’ve spoken with compliance leaders across industries as we developed our comprehensive curriculum, which meets their demand for focused professional education.”

Fordham Law is now accepting applications for the new M.S.L. for non-lawyers and the LL.M. for spring and fall. The first M.S.L. class begins in January 2016, and the program will offer both fall and spring start dates in the future. The School continues to offer the LL.M. in Corporate Compliance, which also has fall and spring start dates. Both degrees are available on a part- and full-time basis. Students who enroll full time can complete their degree in one year.
