Coronavirus Update from 3/9

A message from Dean Diller:

As you may have seen, the University just sent a communication about the coronavirus and our evolving response. As of this morning there are still no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Fordham.

I want to acknowledge that these are stressful times and I understand you may have concerns about your health and safety. I am working with the University and Law School administration to protect our community and to address your concerns.

As of 1 p.m. today (Monday, March 9), there will be no further face-to-face instruction at the Law School. Classes are suspended for the remainder of Monday, March 9, and Tuesday, March 10. We are working towards providing classes online by Wednesday, March 11. If individual instructors are able to start sooner they will reach out to you with instructions. Expect further word from your professors.

We will be working to maintain as many services as possible – food service, career services, student affairs – but we anticipate that on-campus operations will be curtailed. We will be working to provide services remotely. The dorms will remain open.

Classes will continue in an online format after spring break at least through March 27. The University will continue to evaluate the situation to determine when in class instruction can resume.

Effective immediately, all Law School on-campus events are cancelled at least through March 29. Event organizers are responsible for informing guests and attendees that their event has been cancelled. Effective immediately, school-sponsored student travel both international and domestic will be cancelled/postponed through March 29.

If you have questions, please contact Assistant Dean Kimathi Gordon Somers ([email protected]).

Please know that we are first and foremost concerned with your well-being and we are focused on protecting our community. We will keep you informed as this situation continues to evolve.
