Fordham Law Welcomes New Class of Graduate Students

As the fall semester gets underway, Fordham Law welcomed 122 new graduate students: 63 students in 9 LL.M. degree specializations; 18 students in the in-person M.S.L. programs; 38 students in the online M.S.L. Corporate Compliance program; and 3 doctoral degree candidates, who will be working under the supervision of Professors Martin Flaherty and Paolo Galizzi.

This semester also marks the start of Fordham Law’s new LL.M. program in Real Estate Law, which has an initial cohort of six students. This new group of students joins the 49 LL.M. students, 94 M.S.L. students, and 8 doctoral students who are continuing their studies (for a total of 273 graduate students). The new graduate students come from more than 30 countries and often have significant work experience in their respective areas of expertise.

This upcoming semester will be unlike any other. For the first time, orientation was planned as a mix of online and in-person events and classes. Every student has the option to take a fully online schedule or to have a mix of online and in-person classes. Despite the shift to partial online learning, Fordham Law continues to provide an immersive learning experience, starting with a robust orientation and academic program.

“I am deeply impressed by this incoming class of graduate students. Many of them are overcoming significant obstacles just to travel to New York, while others are studying from overseas. Embarking on a graduate law degree during these unprecedented times takes a great deal of determination,” said Assistant Dean Toni Jaeger-Fine, who leads the graduate programs. “I suspect that this fall’s incoming class will be remembered as one of the most resilient and adaptable cohorts that the Law School has ever seen.”

The spring 2021 application cycle is open for the LL.M. and the online and in person  M.S.L. programs in compliance. The fall 2021 admissions cycle will begin on September 15, 2020. Applications for the summer online M.S.L. program in compliance will open on October 1.
