    Remembering Ruth Bader Ginsburg

    U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away on September 18, 2020. The second woman to join the Supreme Court, Justice Ginsburg was a trailblazer in all aspects of her life and career. Fordham Law remembers Justice Ginsburg fondly for her legal wisdom, wit, and dedication to the fight for equality. Below is a selection of Fordham Law memories of Justice Ginsburg.

    My Memories of Ruth Bader Ginsburg

    Notorious RBG Holds Court at Fordham Law
    In 2016, as part of the Robert L. Levine Distinguished Lecture Series sponsored by the Fordham Law Review, Justice Ginsburg spent 90 minutes dispensing legal wisdom, practical advice, and not a little of her trademark sense of humor at Fordham Law School. Professor Aaron Saiger, a nationally recognized education law scholar who clerked for Justice Ginsburg during the 2001-2002 term, served as moderator, posing questions from faculty and students.     Fordham-Stein Prize 2001
    In 2001, Dean Emeritus John D. Feerick ’61 presented Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg with the Fordham-Stein Prize, a national prize given to a member of the legal profession whose work embodies the highest standards of the legal profession. Listen to Justice Ginsburg’s remarks at the 21:00 mark.

    Twenty Admitted to Practice Before the Supreme Court
    On Tuesday, May 28, 2019, 20 Fordham Law Alumni were admitted to practice before the Supreme Court. Justice Ginsburg visited and met with the alumni, their family, and friends.

    Notorious RBG
    While serving as summer interns in 2013, Elizabeth Gavin ’14 and her colleague wrote and produced “Notorious RBG,” a musical tribute to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s career and achievements.
