Pentagon Approves Transfer of 6 Guantánamo Prisoners to Uruguay

Karen Greenberg, director of the Center of National Security at Fordham Law School, spoke to WNYC about the Pentagon’s approval for transfer of six Guantanamo prisoners to Uruguay.

“The only thing that distinguishes [these detainees]is they happened to be on the list of the 78 that have been cleared for release,” says Greenberg. “The president has been conscientiously and deliberately whittling down this list of what began as 86, and whittling it down to whatever countries that he could find.”
