By on October 23, 2014 Law School News

Fordham Law Professor Thomas Lee has been elected to the American Law Institute. Lee, who serves as Leitner Family Professor of International Law and Director of Graduate and International Studies, specializes in international law, international arbitration, comparative and U.S. constitutional law, civil procedure, and the U.S. federal courts.

Based in Washington, D.C., the ALI is an independent, nonprofit legal group consisting of 4,000 legal professionals. The institute’s mission is to produce scholarly work that will clarify, modernize, and improve the law. To this end, the ALI drafts and publishes model statutes and Restatements of the Law.|

To be elected, a lawyer must be nominated by an ALI member. Members are expected to participate in legal work within the institute and are given the opportunity to work on the institute’s legal projects and attend annual meetings.

New members are elected to the ALI approximately three times a year. They include lawyers, judges, and legal scholars.
