On June 28, President Joe Biden announced his nomination of Joseph Laroski ’97 to the U.S. Court of International Trade. Laroski has been a partner at Schagrin Associates since 2021.
Laroski was an attorney-advisor for the U.S. International Trade Commission before serving as deputy assistant secretary for policy and negotiations and director of policy at the U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration. He was also an associate general counsel at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and spent more than a decade in private practice as counsel at King and Spalding and as an associate at Vinson & Elkins, Willkie, Farr & Gallagher, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. He served as a law clerk for Judge Dominick L. DiCarlo on the U.S. Court of International Trade before joining Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

A Worthy Nomination
Laroski was one of nine individuals nominated by President Biden in this latest round of nominees for federal judicial positions. A statement from the White House characterized Laroski and his fellow nominees as “extraordinarily qualified, experienced, and devoted to the rule of law and our Constitution.”
Laroski is the third Fordham Law alumni nominated to the federal judiciary since 2022, joining Justice Maria Araújo Kahn ’89, who was confirmed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in March 2023, and Judge Robert Kirsch ’91, who was confirmed to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey in May 2023.
