Dean Matthew Diller and Director of Professionalism, Maya FitzGerald, are quoted in a Law.com article discussing the need for a stronger focus on mental health protections in law school.
“We joined in 2020 because we were in the midst of a whole set of initiatives focused on the student experience, and really building a culture of professionalism at our law school,” Matthew Diller, dean and Paul Fuller Professor of Law at Fordham University Law School, told Law.com in a recent interview.
Students also have a wellness workshop as part of orientation, “Where not only do we talk about mental health challenges in a more broad sense, but we also talk about the specific challenges that lawyers tend to face and resources that are specifically tailored for law students and lawyers, so right off the bat, we’re sharing those resources with them and having these discussions to normalize this type of conversation,” Maya FitzGerald, director of professionalism at Fordham Law, told Law.com.
