Karen Greenberg was interviewed by Katie Couric for Yahoo News about the attack in Nice, France.
Among Greenberg’s insights was the following:
What about preventing this further down the line? How do we identify individuals who are in trouble, who may or may not be directly inspired by ISIS or al Qaeda but just pick up what’s going on in the air and then just decide to act out? How do you do that? We need to spend a lot of time— whether they’re red teams or another way—thinking about how to prevent at a much earlier level. It can’t just be reactive. It can’t just be more force. And we have to learn that.
