On July 25, Fordham Law School launches, for the second year, a program on Transactional Skills for Global Legal Practice. This two-week course, designed for lawyers from around the world, introduces participants to contract drafting and negotiation from the particular perspective of the U.S. practitioner.
Practitioners teach most of the classes in the program, the focal point of which is a merger and acquisition deal that participants will work through in small groups, with the goal of finalizing an agreement by the end of the program. Other highlights include sessions on Negotiating the Business Deal, Reflections of a Deal Lawyer, Recent Developments in Mergers and Acquisitions and Capital Markets Law, Translating the Business Deal into Contract Concepts, Drafting a Contract’s Parts, Numbers and Financial Provisions, Drafting Specific Contracts, Adding Value to the Deal, and Intellectual Property in Global Business Transactions.
Class sessions are taught by lawyers from some of New York City’s top firms, including Clifford Chance, Crowell & Moring, Dentons, Holland & Knight, Ladas & Parry, Mayer Brown, Morgan Lewis, Schulte Roth & Zabel, Sidley, Skadden, and White & Case.
Networking lunches or receptions are hosted by Dentons, Ladas & Parry, Mayer Brown, Skadden, and White & Case, giving program participants the opportunity to meet local lawyers working in a range of fields.
“We are thrilled to have these outstanding law firms partner with us,” said Toni Jaeger-Fine, a director of the program. “Giving program participants the opportunity to learn from leading practitioners in New York City allows them to develop a U.S. perspective on transactions and expand their global networks.”
