The Stein Center for Law and Ethics is pleased to present the third annual free legal ethics CLE on Thursday, March 30, 2017. Titled Working Ethically with Non-Lawyer Professionals in Public Interest Settings, this two-credit CLE program will address ethics issues encountered by public interest lawyers who collaborate with social workers, medical professionals, community organizers, and other non-lawyer professionals in various practices and settings, including in the representation of children, infirm clients, and older clients.

    The confirmed participants include

    • Susan Cordaro ’04, Senior Appellate Attorney, The Children’s Law Center
    • Kevin M. Cremin, Director of Litigation for Disability and Aging Rights, MFY Legal Services, Inc.
    • Bruce Green, Louis Stein Chair and Director of the Stein Center for Law and Ethics, Fordham Law School
    • Randye Retkin, Director and Founder of LegalHealth, a division of the New York Legal Assistance Group

After the speakers respond to several hypotheticals based on real situations facing lawyers on a regular basis during the representation of elderly, mentally ill, and minor clients, the presenters will take questions and comments from the audience. If you are a public interest attorney and you have experienced an ethically complicated situation while working with non-legal professionals, send a brief description to [email protected] and we will do our best to incorporate your scenario into the discussion.

The program will run from 6:00-8:00 pm and take place at Fordham Law School, 150 West 62nd Street, between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues. Registration is required. Register.
