CBS News quoted Fordham Law Professor Deborah Denno during its June 17, 2010, coverage of Ronnie Lee Gardner’s firing squad execution.
Denno explained the reason why one of the four shooters would be firing blanks: “The reason for that is to alleviate the guilt among any one of the marksman that they may be the actual shooter.”
