On Friday, November 7, Fordham Law will hold a symposium on critical race theory (CRT), bringing together scholars from law, the humanities, and the social sciences to critically engage and articulate the previously unexplored confluences between empirical studies of race and identity, and doctrinal/critical work looking at similar subject matters.
CRT has been an influential aspect of legal scholarship on race and inequality for roughly 20 years. Important issues raised by CRT could benefit substantially from greater integration with empirical social science methods. Additionally, theories used to motivate empirical research on race could benefit from CRT’s theoretical sophistication.
The symposium will build on the project developed by University of California, Hastings Law Professors Joan Williams and Osagie Obasogie.
