Fordham Law alumnus Adam Shlahet, Director of Trial Competitions for the Brendan Moore Advocacy Center, will receive the First Annual Edward D. Ohlbaum Professionalism Award by Stetson University College of Law’s Center for Excellence in Advocacy in May 2015. He will be presented with the award at the Educating Advocates: Teaching Advocacy Skills Conference. The award honors an individual whose life and practice display sterling character and unquestioned integrity, coupled with ongoing dedication to the highest standards of the legal profession and the rule of law.

“Edward Ohlbaum was a giant to anyone involved in trial advocacy and teaching trial advocacy,” Shlahet said. “To receive an award named after him is incredibly special to me.”

Shlahet graduated from Fordham Law in 2002 and has served as an Adjunct Professor of Trial Advocacy with the Moore Advocates since 2004. He also serves as a Special Assistant Attorney General with the New York State Office of the Attorney General, specializing in complex health care frauds. Shlahet was previously a criminal defense attorney with the Legal Aid Society in Bronx County.

Shlahet received the Travis H.D. Lewin Outstanding Coach Award from the Trial Lawyers Section of the New York State Bar Association in 2011.  He is also a certified trial training instructor with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, serving as a member of its faculty since 2007.
