    Etats-Unis: le sort de l’injection létale entre les mains de la Cour suprême

    Deborah Denno quoted in Le Berry Républicain (France) story about the US Supreme Court’s consideration of lethal injection method of execution as  “cruel and unusual punishment” in an environment in which pharmaceutical companies are refusing to provide their products for purposes of execution.

    But the Court has the opportunity to decide more broadly “the constitutionality of lethal injection,” said Deborah Denno, an analyst from Fordham University School of Law.

    Others prefer to turn to alternative methods address the shortage of products, and the risk that the injection as unconstitutional: Utah (west) chose the firing squad, Tennessee (south) chair electric, and Oklahoma directly concerned, opted for inhalation of nitrogen. “That Senior Court seizes a method of execution for the second time in seven years, it’s really amazing,”  the expert told AFP, “obviously, the Court sees it there are problems, and it does not look good for the death penalty “in general”.
