Stein Grads Share Pathways to Practice

This fall’s Pathways-to-Practice series featured three Stein graduates. The Pathways-to-Practice series, which was initiated last year by the Feerick Center for Social Justice, aims to introduce students to different public interest careers by including them in informal conversations with graduates practicing in those fields.

During the programs, speakers answer a variety of questions centered on current practice and career paths, such as their trajectory post-graduation, how they secured their first position, what in their law school career made them a strong candidate, and what they find most challenging, difficult, or gratifying about their work.

As part of the October 6 program on transactional lawyering, Gowri Krishna ’06, the supervising attorney of the Urban Justice Center’s Community Development Project, joined three other Fordham graduates to share experiences and advice with students interested in learning more about careers geared towards helping low-income communities develop health centers, small businesses, child care, and other essential services that support community economic development.

On November 11, Louise Feld ’02, staff attorney at Children’s Law Center, and Alexandra Rizio ’12, staff attorney at Safe Passage Project, participated on a panel with two other Fordham Law graduates to discuss advocating on behalf of and representing children and youth.

In addition to the Feerick Center for Social Justice, the Pathways-to-Practice series is co-sponsored by the Career Planning Center, Clinical Legal Education Programs, Fordham Urban Law Center, PIRC and the Stein Center for Law and Ethics.

Stay tuned for the next two Pathways-to-Practice panels: February 9, 2016 (local government opportunities) and March 9, 2016 (housing and homelessness).
