The Office of International and Non-J.D. programs at Fordham Law School has launched the Winter Institute in New York City, to take place from January 6–14. The Winter Institute was inspired by the Law School’s highly successful Summer Institute, launched in 2006.
The Winter Institute, open to students and graduates of law schools outside the United States, offers an intensive introduction to the U.S. legal system and the opportunity to study side by side with the Law School’s incoming master’s students.
Participants in the Winter Institute will also visit the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York and the New York International Arbitration Center. Optional sessions include preparing the U.S.-style cover letter and resume and applying to U.S. LL.M. programs. Participants will also enjoy an opening luncheon and a closing dinner and certificate ceremony.
“The Law School is thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to lawyers from around the world to convene at our Manhattan campus and learn alongside our LL.M. and M.S.L. students,” said Assistant Dean Toni Jaeger-Fine, a director of the Winter Institute. “This is the perfect introduction to our legal system and to our Law School.”
For the first year of the program, participants come from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ghana, Iran, Italy, Mexico, South Korea, and Spain. Visit the Winter Institute webpage for more information.
