Fordham Law School’s Feerick Center for Social Justice invites alumni and other professionals to participate in the following upcoming volunteer events:

  1. A Training Session for the Education Component of the Legal, Economic, and Educational Advancement Project (LEEAP) on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 6-8pm.

The Education Component of LEEAP works to recruit and train professionals, who then assist students and families with low incomes as they navigate the New York City public high school application process. Volunteers may choose from several long-term and short-term volunteer opportunities at community-based organizations and schools in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, with developing sites in the Bronx and Staten Island. This session will provide attendees with an overview of the high school application process, a cultural competency presentation, a folder of supplementary resources, and information about the various volunteer positions available.

  1. A CLARO Information Session for experienced attorneys on Wednesday, February 17th at 6:00 PM at Fordham Law School in room 7-03, for those interested in volunteer opportunities to assist low-income New Yorkers with consumer debt defense, specialized identity theft assistance, and credit reporting issues.

  1. An Information Session for the Attorney Emeritus Program on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 12- 1:30pm at the law firm of Willkie, Farr & Gallagher LLP located at 787 Seventh Avenue, New York, NY 10019 (between 51st and 52nd). The Attorney Emeritus Program aims to engage attorneys 55 years and over to do civil pro bono work. Prospective volunteer attorneys can choose from 300 volunteer opportunities and 60 AEP host organizations.
