Joel Reidenberg, founding academic director of the Center on Law and Information Policy at Fordham Law, was quoted by International Business Times on the difficulty news outlets would face in pursuing litigation against Facebook, in reference to its trending news topics.
The omission of other sources could theoretically form the basis of a legal claim, but news outlets would have the burden of proving that Facebook promised something it didn’t deliver. An antitrust or anti-competitive “claim could be Facebook has a dominant position in presenting news for the public and they’re putting ahead competitors,” said Joel Reidenberg, a professor at Fordham Law School in New York City.
