    What Michael Grimm Can And Cannot Do For The Next Year

    Fordham Law Professor James Cohen was quoted by silive.com on former Congressman Michael Grimm’s prospects for being readmitted to the New York State Bar.

    Considering he pleaded guilty to a single count of felony tax fraud committed before he was in elected office and unrelated to his practice of law, he has a good shot of being readmitted, Fordham Law Professor James Cohen said.

    While the bar will consider all 20 counts against Grimm when determining whether to readmit him, it’s in his favor that the guilty plea had nothing to do regarding the practice of law.

    “Everything suggests that the bar may not come down on him too hard … they may view his application with some leniency,” Cohen said.

    However, Cohen said Grimm would be ill-advised to apply before his year of supervised release ends.
