    Proskauer Partner Leaves Firm For Federal Bench

    Fordham Law alumna Katharine Parker ’92, a partner in Proskauer Rose’s labor and employment department, was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York for a term of eight years, as reported by the New York Law Journal.

     

    “I’ve really wanted to serve the greater justice system, and this was a good time. The opportunity opened up and I jumped,” she said.

    …

    “I see it as a very important role because some times you’re the first face that people see in the court—on the criminal side at the arraignment and sometimes in civil matters, the parties are first coming to the magistrate judge before they see the trial judge,” Parker said. “So I see the role as being very important in terms of representing the court, representing the justice system and providing the public confidence they’re going to get a fair hearing.”
