Matthew Diller, dean of Fordham University School of Law and Vito Cozzoli, president of the Amerigo Association, are delighted to announce a joint cooperation program between their respective organizations. Amerigo is the alumni association for the international cultural exchange programs created under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and operates through the U.S. Embassy in Rome. Its mission includes strengthening the transatlantic dialogue and raising awareness of exchange programs with United States of America.
The cooperative program centers on three initiatives.
- Fordham Law Faculty in Rome: Amerigo will create opportunities for Fordham Law faculty members to lecture at Amerigo, at LUISS University, and at the Center of American Studies in Rome.
- Italian Visitors to Fordham Law: Fordham Law will offer two annual scholarships for visiting foreign scholars and research fellows who have been vetted and endorsed by Amerigo’s examining board.
- Fordham Program for Italian Legal Professionals: Fordham Law will work with Amerigo to organize a one-week program, customized for Italian law professionals, which will include academic activities and networking events with local attorneys in New York City.
Amerigo’s leadership is well acquainted with the strengths of Fordham Law’s international programs: President Cozzoli was a visiting foreign scholar at the School in 2009 and its advisory board member Rosa Giovanna Barresi is a 2005 graduate of its Master of Laws program.
“We are honored to collaborate with Amerigo,” said Dean Diller. “Given our shared interests in contributing positively to economic growth, human progress, and the rule of law, we are confident that our joint efforts will further the objectives of both Fordham Law and Amerigo.”
