Fordham Law welcomes a delegation of judges from Brazil December 5–8, 2016, as part of the International Judicial Research and Training Program run by the Office of International and Non-J.D. Programs. The program has been organized in cooperation with the Federal Judges Association of Brazil and the Federal Judges Association of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul. During this visit, Fordham Law and the Federal Judges Associations will sign a memorandum of understanding memorializing the ongoing cooperation between the institutions. The ceremony will be attended by Fordham Law Dean Matthew Diller and current LL.M. students from Brazil.
“We are so pleased that the Brazilian judiciary has chosen Fordham Law as the place for its judges to examine aspects of the U.S. legal and judicial systems,” said Assistant Dean Toni Jaeger- Fine, who directs the International Judicial Research and Training Program. “This program gives us a chance to learn from each other about the many differences and similarities in our systems. We are very proud to forge this relationship with the Federal Judges Association of Brazil and the Federal Judges Association of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul.”
The program includes sessions on introduction to the U.S. legal system and federal financial crime and compliance. The delegation will also have the opportunity to observe court proceedings and meet the Honorable Denny Chin at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. The program will conclude with a celebratory luncheon and certificate ceremony.
