Professor Robin A. Lenhardt signed an open letter to President-Elect Donald Trump in advance of the oath of office that he will take on January 20, 2017. The American Constitution Society for Law and Policy posted the letter, which was signed by 42 constitutional law scholars.

The letter highlights seven concerns of its signatories:

    2. Anti-Muslim rhetoric and the creation of a Muslim registry
    3. Independence of the judiciary
    4. An overruling of Roe v. Wade
    5. The appointment of Jeff Sessions as U.S. attorney general
    6. Allegation of voter fraud
    7. Inflammatory rhetoric that encourages hate groups
