    What’s New with Stein Scholars Graduates?

    Stein graduates had a very busy fall.  You can find out what some of them have been up to here.

    Roland Acevedo ’96 and his wife Maria Imperial received the Champion of Justice Award on October 17 at the 10th anniversary celebration of Fordham Law’s Feerick Center for Social Justice.

    Yelena Ambartsumian ’13 has a new position at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP.

    Alex Cárdenas ’15, a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of the Regional Solicitor, spoke at Fordham Law School on the October 18 Pathways-to-Practice panel on federal government opportunities.

    Nicholas Cartagenga ’03 is now deputy counsel at the New York State Board of Elections in Albany.

    Megan (Horn) Essaheb ’11 is the assistant director of immigration and immigrant rights at Asian Americans Advancing Justice.

    Naoki Fujita ’13 began his new position with the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs Office of Labor Policy & Standards earlier this month.

    Richard Hendrix ’14 is special assistant corporation counsel at the Mayor’s Office of Special Enforcement.

    Laura Jereski ’12 recently started as an assistant attorney general at the NY Office of the Attorney General.

    Michael Landis ’11, following his clerkship with the United States District Court in Colorado, began working as the litigation director at US PIRG.

    Janos Marton ’09 is now the director of policy and campaigns at JustLeadershipUSA, a criminal justice organization.

    Nicholas Mitchell ’07, independent monitor of Denver’s police and sheriffs, received a National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement award for his work overseeing the police and sheriffs.

    Michelle Movahed ’06 is the pro bono director for McCarter & English LLP.

    Jadhira Rivera ’05, a senior trial attorney with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, spoke at Fordham Law School on the October 18 Pathways-to-Practice panel on federal government opportunities.

    Timothy J. Treanor ‘95, partner and global co-leader of the white collar criminal defense and investigations practice of Sidley Austin LLP, spoke at Fordham Law School on October 21 as part of the Journal of Corporate & Financial Law Symposium titled Political Corruption: Afflicting America and Affairs Abroad.

    David Urena ’12 is a staff attorney at Urban Justice Center’s Community Development Project.

    Marie Vaz ’11, a staff attorney in the Evelyn Frank Legal Resources Program at the New York Legal Assistance Group, presented on a panel titled Nursing Homes: From Admission to Discharge, as part of the 2016 NYSBA’s Partnership Conference.

    Lauren Wenegrat ’00, director of legal services at Good Shepherd Services, spoke at Fordham Law School on the September 21 Pathways-to-Practice panel on family law.
