Fordham Law’s second Winter Institute in New York City, which took place January 4–12, has concluded. The Winter Institute was inspired by the Law School’s successful Summer Institute, launched in 2006; both programs are organized by the Office of International and Non-J.D. programs.
The Winter Institute, which is open to students and graduates of law schools outside of the United States, offers an intensive introduction to the U.S. legal system and the opportunity to study side by side with the Law School’s incoming master’s students.
Participants in the Winter Institute visited the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York and McDermott Will & Emery LLP. Optional sessions included preparing the U.S. style cover letter and resume and applying to U.S. LL.M. programs. Participants also enjoyed an opening luncheon and a closing luncheon and certificate ceremony.
“Fordham Law is thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to lawyers from around the world to convene at our Manhattan campus and learn alongside our LL.M. and M.S.L. students,” said Assistant Dean Toni Jaeger-Fine, a director of the Winter Institute. “This is the perfect introduction to our legal system and to our Law School.”
This year’s participants came from Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Peru, and the United Kingdom. Visit the Winter Institute web page for additional information.
