Two Fordham alumni, Ritha Pierre ’11 and Vianny M. Pichardo ’08, were elected chairs of legal associations this past month.

Pierre assumed the chairmanship of the Haitian American Lawyers’ Association of New York on January 11, and Pichardo was sworn in as the chair of the Dominican Bar Association on January 17.

Both Pierre and Pichardo were heavily involved in service work in their communities prior to their appointments. As a Fordham Law student, Pierre worked with the Disaster Relief Network to organize a service trip to Haiti to help victims of the January 12, 2010 earthquake. Pichardo served as a member of the Fordham Urban Law Journal while at Fordham. Super Lawyers also recognized her as a New York Metro Rising Star for Insurance Coverage in 2015.

Pierre works as an assistant district attorney with the Kings County District Attorney’s office. Pichardo is an associate at Anderson Kill P.C.
