    Gun Owners Are Outraged By The Philando Castile Case. The NRA Is Silent.

    Professor Nicholas Johnson spoke with the Washington Post about the NRA’s silence following the acquittal of a police officer who shot and killed Philando Castile, a black man who had a valid permit for his firearm.

    But nothing is clear cut when it comes to guns and race in the United States, said Nicholas Johnson, who lectures on both at Fordham Law School, wrote a book called “Negroes and the Gun,” and is a black gun owner.

    “Your political calculation, I think, at the NRA is: Okay, so we can come to the rhetorical aid of a moderately despised contingent of a minority that already doesn’t like us,” Johnson said. “What’s the upside?”
