Former FBI Agent Heads Experienced RMF Cyber Group

Fordham Law alumnus Steven J. Kuperschmid ’85, partner at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, was featured in an InnovateLI article about the firm’s cybersecurity practice group, which will be headed by former FBI Special Agent Richard Frankel.

Kuperschmid boasts extensive experience with corporate, financial and regulatory issues, particularly in the technology, e-commerce and Internet space. The partner will co-chair the new group with Frankel, who recently joined the firm following a distinguished FBI career that included stints as special-agent-in-charge of criminal investigations, undercover units and tactical operations.

 

Frankel’s FBI focus covered various threat-based, intelligence-led law enforcement functions. Those experiences, combined with Kuperschmid’s long familiarity with cyber-related risk-management issues, create a formidable force atop the new practice group, according to Silvers.

Kuperschmid received his Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law and also holds a bachelor’s degree from New York University.

Kuperschmid, who joined the firm in November 2016, agreed that “data security is crucial in nearly every industry.”

 

“Every business needs to be vigilant to protect themselves against economic loss and liability, large regulatory fines and crippling reputational damage,” the partner said.
