Adjunct Professor Matt Gold was quoted in an Automotive News article about the Trump administration’s proposed revisions to NAFTA.
The Trump administration will be challenged to achieve its most problematic objectives because it doesn’t have the same leverage over Mexico and Canada it once did, and “bluster doesn’t work” in trade talks, said Matt Gold, a professor at Fordham University and a former trade negotiator.
“If the U.S. is not in position to pull out of NAFTA, and Mexico and Canada know that, then there’s no leverage,” Gold said last week at a forum in Washington.
