Nestor Davidson appeared in Sirius XM’s The Briefing where he talks about what’s going on with the uptick in preemption laws that are being passed around the country.
So I think what’s happening now is not that states are taking a step back and saying there’s some local conflict or there’s some overriding need for uniformity that suggests that we need to take authority away from cities. Instead what’s happening is you just have a political disagreement and rather than say it’s OK if we set a higher standard for civil rights in Charlotte than we might in other cities in North Carolina; rather than say that, state legislatures are in Florida, in North Carolina, in Texas, all over the country are saying we disagree and we are going to use this power we have or try to use this power to override policy disagreements…
