FLAA European Alumni Chapter Gathering in Barcelona

It is hard to believe that we are already in September. Classes have started, and fresh-faced J.D.s share the corridors with eager LL.M.s; all are settling into lives as Fordham Law students at Lincoln Center in New York City. For me, this experience occurred 15 years ago—a memory that will remain with me for the rest of my days as one of the happiest and proudest moments of my life.

We are preparing for our annual dinner here in London. This year is set to be a truly Fordham event with the extended Fordham family coming together from all over the world to celebrate what has been achieved and to look toward the bright future of Fordham. This summer in Barcelona at the Fordham Law European alumni chapter event we welcomed a number of incoming students at our receptions and academic programs. These incoming LL.M.s and J.D.s are an integral part of the future of Fordham.

The European chapter intends to continue the spirit of involvement and commitment that is demonstrated so strongly by Fordham students, faculty, and alumni. With the help of our chapter presidents, combined with the always present support from Dean Matthew Diller and his wonderful staff of deans and colleagues, we are excited for the future of the chapter.

Ultimately however it comes down to us, the alumni, to be involved and to be a part of the future of Fordham so that our network becomes stronger and more integrated—a community where internships, job opportunities, scholarships, business relationships, and long-lasting friendships are born. A beautiful example of this was the attendance by many Fordham alumni, including myself, at the wedding of Sara (a Fordham alumna) and Julien in Beirut only a few weeks ago. These types of relationships and friendships encourage so many of us to be involved with Fordham. It continues to be my honor and privilege to be the European chapter president on your behalf.

    Alex Brennan LL.M. ’03
President, Fordham Law European Alumni Chapter
