    The Feerick Center Is Looking for Volunteers!

    The Feerick Center for Social Justice is seeking volunteers for a number of programs. Opportunities include

    1. The Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island CLARO programs, where volunteer attorneys provide limited-scope legal advice and assistance to New Yorkers in need at court-based clinics. The next Basic CLARO Training is taking place at the Fordham University Rose Hill campus on Monday, October 23, 2017, from 6 to 9 p.m. Register.
    2. The LEEAP Education Component, which trains volunteers to assist low-income students and families in navigating the complex New York City public high school application process. The next LEEAP training will take place on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Law School.
    3. The New York State Attorney Emeritus Program, an initiative of the New York State chief judge, which supports civil pro bono by attorneys 55 years and over.For more information about these volunteer opportunities, please contact Assistant Dean Robert J.     The Feerick Center is also looking for volunteers to participate in an alumni trip through the CARA Family Detention Pro Bono Program in Dilley, Texas, from November 12 to 18, 2017. Volunteers provide limited-scope legal assistance to asylum-seeking families detained at the South Texas Family Residential Center. No prior immigration experience is required. Spanish- and Portuguese-speakers are strongly encouraged to apply. For more information, please contact Dora Galacatos at [email protected].
