Cameron Russell, adjunct professor and executive director of the Fordham Center on Law and Information Policy (CLIP), appeared on a MouthMedia Network podcast where he weighed in on data privacy concerns in the age of social media. Also joining the podcast was Cambridge Analytica whistleblower Brittany Kaiser.
It’s hard to look behind the curtain. If you read the privacy policy it’s so general; you won’t know anything anyway. What would the privacy policy have had to say for Facebook? To give sufficient notice as to this particular type of use from Cambridge Analytica? If it said that with that specificity and then it had to describe all the various complex things that are happening in terms of data sharing, uses, analytics—it would be a bazillion pages long. So obviously this is not working.
