Clinic Student Deema Nagib Wins Fordham Law Public Service Award

Deema Nagib, a student in the Criminal Defense Clinic, received this year’s Public Service Valedictorian Award.  Nagib committed over 1,000 hours to public service during her three years of law school. As a law clinic student, she was able to work with other law students, a social work student, and the clinic’s supervising psychologist, using an interdisciplinary approach to solving the client’s issues.

“It’s being a real lawyer, defending a real person,” said Nagib of her clinical experience. “The clinic attorneys are there to supervise you but you do your own work. They don’t baby you.”
