Family Advocacy Clinic Partners with Albert Einstein College of Medicine to Help Children with Developmental Disabilities

Leah Hill, associate dean for experiential education and director of the Family Advocacy Clinic, partnered this semester with the Rose F. Kennedy Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, a program of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The Family Advocacy Clinic and the Bronx Defenders comprise the partnership’s legal arm, which will help prepare a cadre of disability-informed legal professionals, conduct public policy research, and provide direct problem-solving services. During the semester, clinic students went on a field trip and participated in multidisciplinary team case discussions. They also saw how professionals make evaluative decisions about children with disabilities. Clinic students also produced a panel, “Parenting, Disabilities, and the Law: Child Welfare Challenges and Strategies,” which was streamed live to partner organizations.
