Neuroscience is a young field. It really started in about 1963. The legal system started recognizing developments in neuroscience soon thereafter … Of course, in the criminal system in particular everything focuses on what’s happening with the human’s mind and what’s happening with their behavior, in which case it’s no surprise that lawyers are going to start looking at developments in neuroscience.
