On September 17, Fordham Law welcomed a group of Spanish lawyers who are part of an LL.M. program in international transactions offered by the Centro de Estudios Garrigues. The two-week program at Fordham Law is the inaugural activity of the Spanish master program.

The Fordham program consists of a number of classes on topics including Introduction to the U.S. Legal System, Corporate Law, Issues in U.S. Litigation, Corporate Reorganization in Bankruptcy, Contract Law, Contract Drafting and Negotiation, Mergers and Acquisitions, International Arbitration, Federal Financial Crime, and Securities Regulation. Special programs include a panel on Cross-Cultural Negotiations and visits to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York and the law firms of Simpson Thacher and Patterson Belknap. The program will end with a certificate ceremony and celebratory lunch.

“This program further strengthens the longstanding relationship Fordham Law School has with the Centro de Estudios Garrigues,” said Toni Jaeger-Fine, an assistant dean at Fordham Law. “We are delighted that Garrigues has again chosen Fordham as the New York City partner for its lawyer training.”
