I think the Chinese understand that no American president on either side of the aisle, no Democrat or Republican president, would ever do what Trump is doing, or would continue it after Trump leaves office. So from their point-of-view the best way to manage this is to figure out how to sustain the current position for the long term and hope President Trump doesn’t get reelected.
