15 Minutes With Honeywell’s General Counsel

By Newsroom on December 3, 2018 Alumni, In the News

Alumna Anne Madden ’92, general counsel at Honeywell International Inc., was interviewed by Law360 about her professional career, leadership style, and diversity and inclusion in the legal industry. Honeywell won a 2018 Employer of Choice Award in October from the Minority Corporate Counsel Association for its long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion.

“It’s a tone that’s set at the top by me in the law department, but also very much a tone that’s set at the top by our chairman and CEO,” Madden told Law360 in a recent interview. “We’re committed to making a difference in inclusion and diversity at Honeywell, and we put formal and tactical support behind that.”

Some of those efforts include sponsoring fellows to the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, mandating outside counsel present diverse teams for Honeywell matters, and requiring recruiting firms to deliver high-quality, diverse slates of candidates for open roles.

“We are really, really devoted to different perspectives, different backgrounds, different cultures, different experiences so that we can offer to our clients the highest quality internal product as they think about their growth and risk challenges,” Madden said.
