This year, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) hosted 66 teams from over 30 countries, encompassing over 550 students. The competition is the world business organization’s biggest educational event, attracting over 130 professional mediators, volunteers, sponsors, and observers. Hosted in Paris, the competition offers student teams from diverse backgrounds a unique opportunity to resolve complex international business disputes through mediation. Judging them are some of the field’s leading dispute resolution professionals.
After long hours of rigorous preparation and multiple rounds of intense competition, Fordham’s international mediation team came back with the Distinction in Public Speaking, a prize awarded to the competition’s most articulate team. The law school was represented by the Dispute Resolution Society (DRS) with William Sierra-Pambley as coach.
Founded in 2001, DRS offers the roughly 15% of 1L and 2L applicants who make it past its tryouts the opportunity to compete in some of the dispute resolution world’s most recognized competitions. The Society prides itself in its competition results, professional growth opportunities, and long-lasting friendships.
