    Bruce Green on Tali Farhadian Weinstein’s Campaign for Manhattan District Attorney

    Professor Bruce Green was quoted in a Wall Street Journal in an article on Tali Farhadian Weinstein’s campaign for Manhattan district attorney and scrutiny over accepting large donations from the financial sector.

    Candidate Dan Quart and other opponents have criticized Ms. Farhadian Weinstein for accepting large donations from people in the financial sector and question whether she will prosecute white-collar crime fairly when Wall Street executives are responsible for her support.

    “Everyone’s taken the same approach,” said Ms. Farhadian Weinstein, saying a small number of donors have contributed 25% to 50% of each candidate’s total funding. “I will prosecute anyone who breaks the law, including my donors.”

    Bruce Green, a professor of legal ethics at Fordham Law School and a former federal prosecutor, said that accepting contributions generically tied to Wall Street didn’t violate any ethics rules.

     

    “The issue is really for voters to decide whether they want someone who is most closely identified with Wall Street firms,” Mr. Green said.
