    Fordham Law’s Law Firm Management Program Convenes Leaders in the Legal Industry to Share Wisdom and Insights

    Fordham Law School will offer its Structural Issues in Law Firm Management program this winter in collaboration with leading Brazilian law firm Mattos Filho the program brings together leaders in the legal industry to discuss changes, innovations, key issues, and best practices with respect to effective law firm management. This is the second time the school is working with the firm to offer the program. The first successful incarnation kicked off in February of 2021.

    The program is open to all but is highly recommended for senior associates, counsel, partners, and non-lawyer leaders at law firms. Sessions will be held online on Fridays, from 9 – 10:00 a.m. New York time, with optional networking sessions from 10 – 10:30 a.m. from Friday, January 28 through Friday, May 6, 2022. This year, contingent on public health developments, the program will host an optional in-person colloquium at Mattos Filho’s New York Office and Fordham Law School in New York City on May 12-13.     “Fordham Law School is thrilled to build on the success of our inaugural program on Structural Issues in Law Firm Management with refined topics and some new speakers offering expert insights and experience on how to successfully run a law firm today,” said Toni Jaeger-Fine, assistant dean, Fordham Law School. “We are enormously proud of this program, and especially our partnership with the Brazilian powerhouse law firm Mattos Filho.” 

    Bookending the program will be the opening José Eduardo Carneiro Queiroz Memorial Lecture:  “The New Legal Department,” delivered by Eric F. Grossman, J.D. ’93, chief legal officer of Morgan Stanley; and the closing keynote address delivered on May 13 by Jon Van Gorp, chair of Mayer Brown, on “The Law Firm of the Future.”

    The program faculty consists of leading attorneys from top law firms and companies, as well as C-suite executives in law firms, who will cover the following topics:

    • Firm Strategies and Business Models
    • Compensation Systems
    • Firm Structure and Governance
    • Law Firm Leadership
    • Recruiting, Training, and Retaining Talent
    • Law Firm Finances: Pricing and Efficiency
    • Marketing: Branding, Communications Strategies, and Business Development
    • Technology and Cybersecurity
    • Managing the Client Relationship: Firm Strategies and the Client’s Perspective

    At the first and highly successful presentation of Structural Issues in Law Firm Management more than 170 participants registered from countries around the world, including the United States, Afghanistan, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Georgia, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Italy, Kuwait, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, and Uruguay.
