    Fordham Law School Ranks No. 23 in Scholarly Impact

    Fordham Law School has placed No. 23 nationally according to the latest study conducted by Professor Gregory Sisk and colleagues at the University of St. Thomas (Minnesota), which ranks law school faculties by the Scholarly Impact Score as refined by Professor Brian Leiter.

    In the last decade, Fordham Law’s ranking has jumped 20 places, from No. 43 in 2012 to No. 23 in 2021.

    “While any attempt to quantify the scholarly influence of an academic institution has its limitations, I could not be more proud of the exceptional group of faculty at Fordham Law School,” said Dean Matthew Diller. “This ranking is an acknowledgement of the magnitude and impact of our legal scholarship.”

    According to the same data, a number of Fordham Law faculty members are also the most cited scholars in their respective fields:

    • Nestor M. Davidson, Albert A. Walsh Chair in Real Estate, Land Use, and Property Law, ranked No. 7 most cited in property (including land use, real estate, and wills & estates)
    • Bruce Green, Louis Stein Chair of Law and Stein Center Director, ranked No. 2 most cited in legal ethics/legal profession/professional responsibility in the U.S.
    • Russell Pearce, Professor of Law and Edward and Marilyn Bellet Chair in Legal Ethics, Morality, and Religion, ranked No. 6 most cited in legal ethics/legal profession/professional responsibility in the U.S.
    • Benjamin C. Zipursky, James H. Quinn ’49 Chair in Legal Ethics, ranked No. 2 most cited in torts and insurance law

    Additionally, James J. Brudney, ​​Joseph Crowley Chair in Labor and Employment Law was highly cited in labor and/or employment law and in legislation (including statutory interpretation and legislative process). Ethan Leib, John D. Calamari Distinguished Professor of Law was highly cited in legislation (including statutory interpretation and legislative process).
