Fordham’s Black Law Students Association was honored with three awards at the Northeast Black Law Students Association (NEBLSA) awards gala on Feb. 11: Northeast Region Chapter of the Year, Northeast Region President of the Year, and 50 years of service.

The gala celebrated the Northeast Region’s 34 law school chapters and the 55th anniversary of NEBLSA, an organization committed to increasing the number of culturally responsible Black and minority attorneys who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.

“I am deeply honored that Fordham’s BLSA was selected as the Northeast Region Chapter of the Year and that I was selected as the President of the Year at the 55th Annual NEBLSA Convention,” said BLSA President Afrika Owes ’24. “None of this would be possible without my right hand, Ferrell Littlejohn ’24, and the entire BLSA board. I’d also like to thank our members, alumni, faculty, staff and NEBLSA family for attending and supporting our events and encouraging us to keep on keeping on, especially on the tough days. We are excited to walk in the footsteps of those who have come before us as we continue to mentor the next generation of BLSA leaders.”
